VoIP, but spiced up with features
What really hooks me is the distance-based VoIP which is used in DayZ, where I can speak to a player who is close to me, while the volume gets lowered dramatically with an increasing distance to the other player. Immersion gets quite intense once I can locate players by simply listening or when I can shout across the fort’s walls to lure a player our, or call for help in the woods…
I don’t know what exactly is planned regarding VoIP integration in the first place (need to get deeper into the forums and playing), but I’d love to see an individual approach to this as opposed to let players just use Teamspeak and similar tools which pushes the communication outside of the game. I can think of “revolutionary” suggestions here, like…voice distortion based on the avatar settings, or being able to leave voice messages or maybe even add “LANGUAGES” – voice gets scrambled until you build a “communicator”.
I wish there was a game sometime where the chat and VoIP isn’t feeling like a 3rd party tool but a main, but optional, part of the game.
Oculus VR/TrackIR
Not much to say here, but…it’s obvious Oculus Rift is about to become a game changer in most areas. However, I am currently using Track IR which is only supported by a handful of games. Especially in “exploration” games I can’t imaginge why one would ditch Oculus support…but in case you planned that feature at some point in time, maybe add TrackIR support as well. Just for me. 😀
