      Asked on twitter but the wonderstruck guys directed me to here to post so hopefully get a good answer, personally speaking i would rather pay one time than subs.

      As far as I know it is not subscription based. Just a one time buy.

      There is a one time fee to play the game; however, there will be an option to create and rent your own server later on.
