      Hello Oortians!

Over the past few weeks the Oort elves have been hard at work on a 64bit build of the Steam client for Windows, which should help some users avoid crashes and improve stability when playing for long periods of time. We’re now at the stage where we need your help to try it out.

We are interested in a couple things:

      A) Are you running a 32bit or 64bit version of Windows?

      B) Does this 64bit version provide better stability when playing for long periods of time for you?

To try the “64bit Beta” build of the Oort Steam Client please do the following:

      1) Open Steam and go to Library > Games

      2) Right click on Oort Online and select “Properties”

      3) On the BETAS tab select “64bit” and then close.

      4) Wait for the game to update or click “Play Game” and choose to download the update. When the game is using the 64bit version the game in the library should say: “Oort Online [64bit]”

      5) Play the game as normal. To opt out of the beta repeat the process but in the BETAS tab choose “NONE – Opt out of all beta programs”

If you experience any problems with this build please report your issues on the Oort forums.

      Thanks

      The Oort Online Team

Running Win7 64bit. When I entered game I noticed the Minimap is present but blackened-out w/ the bullseye dot in middle. Not sure if it has been disabled for 64 bit version. Seems farily stable 🙂

The map shows up for me. I have had it go black a couple of times but changing the zoom level fixes it (at least for me).

I just tested the 64b-client (with my Win8 64 Laptop with 8gb RAM) for an hour and a half. I ran like hell through the worlds to check out if it gets to it’s limits, but I had NO CRASHES (!!! ;D). The only sad news: I had visual bugs with whole chunks of Landscape/Worlds. I was able to see the blocks with my “working frame” while targeting them, but were invisible.

The map was “empty” at first, but changing the zoom fixed it.

The only crashes I’ve had have been related to the nVidia issue which I believe is already known and happens with the 32-bit version as well.

The Client is great, but the windowmode is a bit bugged. I can’t maximize the window only i resize it manually with the mouse and stretch it myself :/

We are aware of the window mode issue. Which we are looking into at the moment.

This “64bit “branch is no longer in use. The default Oort Online version is now 64bit. Users who are still on 32bit Windows should read the 32bit sticky.
