Okay so this idea is based on the hqm adventure maps that mod makers have been making for minecraft.

This idea would have to be a “down-the-line” addition after 1.0 is released.

Is it possible for Oort online to do something like this?:

A world maker starts a private world and builds on it a playable “adventure”. Maybe this world maker limits the available resources on their world and dots the landscape with important structures filled with puzzles, challenges and situations that would reward players with blocks, items and resources that they could not get from the world gen. Maybe the world maker adds lorebooks and signs that both guide the player while telling a story. Maybe there are objectives such as hand-in quests, crafting quests, mini-games, or monster slaying quests etc.

The world maker can use beacons to limit what the player can destroy or access. Maybe beacon variables can change based on what items have been submitted/handed-in.

Then the world-maker can “publish” the adventure world via a specific kind of portal or a normal portal with a specific setting. The end result of this is that players or preformed groups of players enter their own unqique instance of the adventure world as it was when it was published. Players would enter and leave these adventure worlds without any items – meaning that it would be entered purely for playing the adventure – or if the adventure is successfully completed the players can have a trophy or something.

I really hope my thoughts are clearly articulated. If not, sorry for filling the readers’ brainspace with gibberish.

If this could be done without griefing, it would be good. Unfortunately there are a lot of people out there who would want to use it for griefing.

      Thanks for the feedback 🙂

My idea to deal with griefing is that each player enters their own seperate instance of the adventure world (as it was when it was created and first published). This way each player can experience the adventure world from start to finish. ‘Instances’ are basically how most MMOs handle dungeons, except with Oort the instances can be player built.

If you and I entered the same portal to this adventure world we would each play a seperate and unique instance of that world. If we grouped up and formed a party before going through the portal we would be able to play in the same instance and play the instance together without interference from other players.

When we leave the adventure world and come back to it later – it will be back to how it was when created and we can replay the adventure.
