MemberWhen you first start the game your UI should look like this while fullscreen (hit enter):
At the bottom right there is an [i]. This is clickable to extend out the basic controls.Mouse move – Look
Mouse left click – Break block
Mouse right click – Place block
Mouse scroll – Change quick bar itemWASD – Move (double tap W and hold to run)
Space – Jump
1-9 – Change quick bar item
Shift (hold) – Creep (player will not fall off ledges while holding)
E – Open/close inventory window
P – Pause menu. This also opens the server list. See below for details
O – Options
C – Third person view
F – Selfie view
Enter – Fullscreen
I – Toggles infinite blocksDebugging/Compass/Altimeter/Coordinate controls:
Tab – Toggle through debugging infoHitting [P] will bring up the server menu, allowing you to cross servers without having to find portals.
Quick Tips!:
– Hitting the expand arrows at the bottom right will full screen your game. As will the enter/return key.
– Pressing the Esc or Enter key will return your screen to normal.
[X] Sometimes it may take a few tries to return your browser to normal.Slope blocks
Some blocks such as sand, gravel, ice, bouncy block and dirt are able to be sloped. Make pyramids or run up and down stairs without jumping! To check what a block is, hitting tab a few times and looking at the block will display the blocks name at the top left.
Here is how they work. When you have one of the mentioned natural blocks in your hot bar, the shape/slope is determined on where it’s placed on your hot bar. You tap [R] and right click to place the altered block. This is a toggle, so remember to tap R again if you want to place normal cube blocks.
From 2-6 it goes diagonal block, small corner block, large corner block, saddle shape, pyramid style corner block.

Here is 4:
Here is 5:
Here is 6:
Quick Tips!:
– A sloped block’s direction is determined by the way you’re facing
[X] Remember to hit R again to return too normal blocks
[!] More natural blocks will be able to become altered/sloped over time!Portals!
Portals are a mechanic in the game that allows the player to seamlessly cross in to other worlds. Eventually the player will be able to create these with the use of Oort stones. Currently they are static to display how they work.

MemberGreat job Rukio. Must have been getting tired of being asked how things work (including myself / placing angled blocks) Finally got the hang of it (I think anyways) 🙂

MemberSo far I’ve had no luck creating sloped blocks. Hitting the ‘R’ key does nothing special.

Memberonly certain blocks can slope, example is dirt or bounce blocks. put in 2 and tap r if it is a square tap r again and that should fix it.

MemberI see where I went wrong–I was expecting the visual representation of the materials in the bar to change when I toggled in and out of sloped mode. When they didn’t I assumed it wasn’t working.
Thank you!

MemberThanks much for the simple tutorial, Rukio. Great work!
A couple of points that may be of interest from my experiences thus far …
1) Here in the US it appears that the “.” key allows the HUD/Debug view change.
* Using an older Microsoft 4000 Ergonomic keyboard and did change my keyboard option to “US” in the game’s Option settings.
2) Using the “i” key allows for a “infinite block mode” providing unlimited building resources. This was pointed out to me by another player in game, and I am not sure if it is of “recommended” use or if it will remain available as the game progresses.

ParticipantOnly certain blocks can be sloped. Also make sure you have the block in the 2-6 position on your action bar.

MemberNo, they’re somewhere within the userdata folder.
If you click on the “View screenshot library” button within the steam client and then “Show on disk”, it will open to the right place.

MemberI’ve found that once you leave the world, the time cycle resets to normal. Reloading the same world may work, just haven’t tried that yet.
