Building shortcuts a la Space Engineers

Hey guys,

I’ve been into the game for a little time now and this just came across my mind: building can be little tedious and the concept of putting blocks together piece by piece is a something everyone knows from MC and other games. So, how about adding basic shortcuts and/or tools to create “shapes” as it is done in “Space Engineers”. I put together something quick to compensate my bad english skills 😉

Cool idea, but i would like if you needed a tool to do it. Something magic so there is a reason for the blocks just magically appearing out of nowhere.

Exactly! Actually I think it would be a great idea to tie ALL mechanics to RPG elements. Games like Everquest Landmark will gain a lot of reputation soon, where the creativity is tied to the building and crafting in an RPG stylish manner.

I just realized that I can place block QUITE far away in Oort. Maybe it could also become a feature, like…increasing the range within you can place blocks with building a required tool for that, or gaining a certain perk, leveling a specific skill etc.

Hmmm, interesting feature. I’ll admit it. But then again, there’s something about building a house/tower/city block by block, like in real life. Though, that’s not to say that you couldn’t have such a shortcut over a large amount of time.

Let’s say that your very first building, you have zero experience ingame. After you’ve been building several structures, you’ll have gained a sustainable amount of experience by claiming various buildings (by literally placing a flag on each building perhaps?). This way, you can gain access to some form of new skills, like the ability to build with shortcuts. Personally, I’m very much up for this sort of idea.
