Cannot place sloped blocks

I’ve placed a normal square block then I press R and then I cannot place a block, I press R again and can place a normal block.

Any help?

for normal slope you need to put the block in hotbar slot number 2, I recommend setting slopeable blocks (I believe only 6 or so blocks can slope at this time) to hotbar slots 2-6 (2, 3, 4, 5 and 6) and setting up a reference station to use when building with slopes. You will still need to press “R” to change between normal block and slope block placement.
