All the packages on the homepage include steam keys. Is there any way to play the game without steam? Do these include non-steam downloadables, or is the game steam-only?

Also, I noticed that firefox is required, I’m assuming no plugins are required to run the game, right?

I believe it only gives you a Steam key, thus you need Steam at this time.

You can put a shortcut on your desktop and not need to open steam, or you could play the game from your browser by going to https://ga.me/ and setting up your account there. client version works best, but it plays pretty well in Chrome if you want.

I got a response when sending an email to the guys at Wonderstruck (thanks for the detailed response, guys!), so, for future reference here goes a short version:

Right now (eg: during beta), there’s no non-steam version, but there’s the intention to do it in future (I assume closer to the retail release). There may(?) be sooner if there’s enough user interest.

Wrong, there is no way to install the game without installing (and, duh, opening) steam.
