MemberI heard somewhere that the team are looking into possibilities of make Oort online an exe program not run through a browser. I like this idea and would hopefully help with latency and loading times etc my question is an offline mode. I know Oort online says it all in the name but being a sandbox crafting game, multiplayer may not be everyone’s idea. You may want to just plod along building your base/ house and running around gutting titans/ mobs (which will be awesome by the way). I don’t see why after you have set up a beacon area online which no one can build in you could possibly go offline and build your home. When you log online it loads in. I know this would pose a problem mining resources outside your beacon due to the syncing. Just with playing minecraft (sorry I went there) it’s nice sometimes to go offline and do your own thing. This is all hypothetical after not sure where I heard the exe information just my idea and I wouldn’t know how hard it would be to put in place.

ParticipantI did hear from the devs that they are working on an exe, but I’ve not heard anything about an offline mode. I’m not sure how I would feel about some sort of offline/online sync, but perhaps an offline creative mode planner so you can plan structures in a free build mode before you spend resources building it online?

MemberThey are defenitely developing a standalone client. There’s already been a “leak” on their facebookpage showing a screenshot of the client window 🙂
They also have talked somewhere in the forums or the chat on ga.me about an offline mode.
During the whole development process they are currently not thinking about adding such a feature. But when the game goes live and lots of players are demanding an offline mode they would think about it. (Somewhat like that was written by a dev. If I am wrong – please note it 🙂 )
