Hello,
I am an user from South East Asia who consider buying an early access but a problem I wondering is about the server connection problem. My Internet services provider only managed to give me a maximum of 1mbps(128kbytes/s) internet speed, and my ping to oortonline.com is around 340ms, I doesn’t know I should buy this game or not as I cant guarantee a smooth gameplay for myself. I bought premium minecraft but I feel myself hard to play on other servers because most of them are host in US or EU and I usually can’t play with 1mbps or experience a high latency of 300ms or more lol 😛 -

You will need a reasonable good broadband to play the game. I doubt a 1mbps will be playable.
We have some Australian server which may be lower ping. 300ms should be playable for general game play as long as it doesnt spike higher.

Well it’s playable and non playable lol,my movement got paused sometime and sometime my position got ‘rolled back’. it feels my movement and equipment slots and others are out of control while my bandwidth is under full load, I don’t know why it behave like this, maybe this game need more optimization for low bandwidth-user? with some network options like dat 😛

I bought the steam collector’s edition yesterday, I signup for a new user at the game launch, after this, I realized I have signed up for a account maybe few hours before but I couldn’t use it for my game launch, so I guess there maybe something went wrong and I found my old account(that registered early at GA.ME)’s email address has been changed while I linked to my social network account, thus caused my new sign up succeed with another optional username. I hope there are ways to ‘transfer’ the content I purchased with steam to my old account or can I get my old account ‘deleted’ and replace its username with this current one (that maybe easier to bypass steam, but I don’t know will your team or GA.ME do it)
Thanks. -

Actually I did a test and found it took me around minutes of full load under 1mbps bandwidth until I am able to control my character (moving, open bag, using grabbing hook and others functions), I would suggest its thread(network usage or so) to be prioritized on character handling instead of map loading(I bet our characters are locked when all bandwidth was used for map[chunk] loading) lol
Provide some dynamic chunk loading way like some minecraft plugins did also considerable 😛- This reply was modified 10 years, 1 month ago by ITz7.

Last server pos don’t update while moving rapidly lol (which caused roll-back effect)

Are you on Windows or OSX?
We have a known issue with bad latency on OSX that, when triggered, can cause the game to stall badly. We’d really keen to get it fixed and will be looking into it as a priority. If you’re on OSX you’ll definitely hit this with your connection.

I am on Windows and my client running smoothly @ 60fps 😀 and I hope the bandwidth allocation will be prioritized on character handling in the future 😀
Here is some screen shot I can have.
When I just logged on onto server and make some movement:
After 1minutes… the last server post still haven’t been updated and the chunk is still loading…
After 1more minutes, it seem the chunk has done loading and the latency backed to normal value, server pos and local pos were synced but some rollback occurred(I didn’t move at all)
After I made some movement, the latency back to an outstanding value again and all function like backpack and tools became buggy, blocks aren’t breakable at this state.

That roll back effect made me don’t even can explore the map well with running, because when the new chunk start loading, the movement become buggy and cause rollback-effect, sometimes I died because for this ._.

OK thanks for the details and images.
Can you try playing the game in the browser (Chrome or Firefox): https://ga.me/games/oortonline-preview
The browser have more stable networking – if this is an improvement then we’ll have a better idea what to focus on.

lol have tried it, it was the same for both standalone and browser ver, don’t you try with a bandwidth limiter to 1mbps? :3

We’re going to work on improving the networking and reducing the dl requirement. But it’ll take a little while.
