Hello guys! Just saw the trailer for your game and I couldn’t help but notice the potential. I was wondering if you planned to take the voxel world a step further with real smooth terrain generation. Other studios have achieved this, one game that comes to mind is 7 Days to Die, you should check it out! Even the unfortunate failure of Yogventures had it working very early.
I imagine you guys receive a huge amount of comparisons to minecraft, this will not only diminish that, but seriously make the game more appealing. Seriously consider it, I would love to hear some feedback on the possibility of this as well.
Good Job so far guys! Hope to hear back

Hi Alfa! Thanks for taking a look at the trailer and for the complements. We looked at smooth terrain for a long time before deciding on the current terrain generation. We wanted to add some deformation to the blocks to give the world a more natural feel.
But, we made a design decision early on not to go for a similar look to games like 7 Days to Die, Yogventures and Landmark. We just felt that one of the beautiful things about voxel games is that it gives everyone a good footing to create beautiful structures and a really simple world to understand. It’s kind of like the comparison between Lego and modelling clay. Most beginners can create something fun and good looking quite easily with Lego. But it takes a lot of skill and time to master the same skills with clay.
We’re still open to feedback and ideas on the terrain generation though and always like talking about the game. So, keep up the feedback!

You make some good points but this would be strickly limited to the terrain, I don’t imagine that players will be making structures out of dirt. The cube look working very well when it comes to building, where it would make more sense as you pointed out. Although I’m sure players will prefer a hole that looks like a hole, instead of a cross.
This is just my opinion! But check out the comments, many feel the same. I’m sure more people would appreciate the blocks when it comes to building, and the smoothness when it comes to natural terrain, but and the end of the day it’s the teams decision.
Please reconsider. It is literally the only thing that caught my eye as an issue, and unfortunately turns people off before they can see the game for what it really is.

Perhaps another solution could be that only the first layer is smooth (i.e. Yogventures) then the well-known voxel landscape underneath will be revealed. Perhaps tools could be added if players wanted to smooth it out (for the advance players you mentioned earlier, rather than the ones who could care less). these could be a chisel for stone, maybe one of those gardening shovels for dirt, etc. Just an idea 🙂

Thanks Alfa. We appreciate the feedback. We’ll definitely continue to consider all opinions and feedback and see when and how we can implement changes. We may not always make every change that every individual wants, but if enough people give the same feedback we will listen.
Keep it coming! 🙂

I actually prefer the current system. Although I have some confusion over white wool.
As of now, it looks like an unnatural block, which makes sense, straight white wool off a sheep wouldnt be perfect looking.
Is there any plan to add a refine wool? or like carpet type block thats craft from wool?
Cause if Im going to make a room in my house out of wool, I dont want it to look “natural.”
