I don’t want to change the ‘how quick’ but the ‘how’. My introduced system will require the same time to collect all blocks like harvesting all blocks in the current system. The only thing what will be dropped is the annoying ‘build a ladder of dirt’ thing, because maybe 20% of the players are in the mood for collecting the really last block of a tree. Furthermore, when you say that you want to make cash and you are going to kill a forest for some bucks I don’t believe that you will take the time to harvest the last bit of the tree out of your range, it is not comfortable 😉

This could be an option for using logs in your building. It could be also possible to introduce a logic into the script which decides if you are currently chopping a tree or if not. For example if the object you are chopping and which consists of logs has leaves. Furthermore does this object which could be a tree is above a specific height? If Oort Online only has trees above a specific height, this logic could exclude some elements in your building from being chopped down.

The thing with a tree fall over could be a bit tricky and maybe annoying. Imaginge you are in a dense forest and you are copping down a tree by destroying the lowest block to let the tree fall over. The tree will fall, but maybe only into the next tree near by and the blocks will only drop into the treetop. So you would have to chop down the next tree in order to get in range.

The HP-Tree solution would be much better, so the tree will get a HP based on the number of blocks. In order to chop the tree down you have to deal the calculated damage to the tree, this HP or the time to do this could be influenced by the quality of the axe. Wooden axe is very slow, stone axe is a bit faster and so on. Please keep in mind that the video demonstration doesn’t cover the HP-Based feature exactly. When you would activate the feature in the mod it would cost much more time to chop down a tree.

Yes I used this setup for my Minecraft Server, so it took longer for a huge tree (20-30 Seconds with a stone axe). The time for chopping down a tree drops by the used material.

Why shouldn’t it be possible to build your own ship/airship/air balloon out of blocks?

It is possible with a mod in Minecraft: Archimedes’ Ships

    An example

So like the mod in Minecraft you could build your vehicle in Oort. You could need magic gems for example to build the instruments (because Oort is full of magic) and for the engine you could need coal for instance. Air blocks for airships or air balloons could be crafted with wool and magic gems to make them “fly”. I don’t mean that they will fly away, I mean for the lore. How huge you could build your ship could be limited by the amount of engines (airscrews, material, etc.) or the amount of air-blocks (for flying things).

On my server it was never a real performance hit, everything flew or sailed smoothly and the Minecraft engine was never intended to do such things..
