Repairing is a job the players should quite easily be able to perform. I feel that Npc’s should only do jobs players wouldn’t want to do because they are really boring like standing guard outside a door all day or standing in a shop selling materials and such.
Also i am fully against anything where the Npc’s bring new items into play as that will work against the player driven Rpg concept.
ThorbjornMemberDefine more complex jobs. If it is things like gathering materials i am against it as that should be things only the player should be able to do.
ThorbjornMemberTo talk about use of real money go to : http://oortonline.com/forums/topic/real-money-auctions/
And just wait the team is are passing by the forums from time to time so they will see the ideas eventually.
ThorbjornMemberThe biggest problem about this would be that it would be way to Pay to Win like (People using real money to get ahead of you is no fun) We already have another way to found it which would be people paying to have their own private worlds here they would still need to work to get their materials but they would be able to choose where to build without having to worry about nearby beacons.
ThorbjornMemberActually i think it does the opposite of forcing people to log in as. People would be able to get new rare resources without charging in every time a new world appears.
ThorbjornMemberThis sounds awesome 🙂
ThorbjornMemberThe problem is that this is jobs players should be able to learn quite easily.
ThorbjornMemberAs an answer to your last question: There isn’t really any difference between currency and items, but the importance of finding a way to use currency is that else the amount of money in the game would keep raising and a currencies value is quite much defined by its rarity.
If everybody had 1.000.000 gold and the only thing they could use it for was to buy stuff from other players nobody would really want it.
ThorbjornMemberDaily and weekly worlds are something we spoke of 2-3 months ago. (I can’t find the thread though)
The idea was that there should be worlds that only existed for a day/week where people could get new new resources and such. The catch would be that they should be PvP and it would probably be quite risky to venture out into them.
They where one of the many options of how to put super rare materials into play.
(Something like that it is quite a long time since we talked about it so maybe i forgot something)

ThorbjornMemberYES you decided to come any way 🙂
ThorbjornMemberMy ideas are all outlined here:
http://oortonline.com/forums/topic/npcs/ (Check the bottom too there is some updated parts there)ThorbjornMemberWell yes it helps people find what they are looking for when browsing the forum, this post isn’t even in suggestions.
ThorbjornMemberHey cool idea i am not sure this is how i would want the skills to be set up but it is a well set up system 🙂
Also: If you set coma between your tags they will become separate words 🙂
ThorbjornMemberIt would be cool if you would want to submit your Npc idea here: http://oortonline.com/forums/topic/npcs/
Extra input is always appreciated.
(Though i am personally against Npc’s who add resources into the game when the game is supposed to have a very player driven economy)
ThorbjornMemberI have been convinced. If the beacons are going to work the way you think it would work just fine 🙂
