  • in reply to: What race will you be? #5966

I really like the tailed races. I’m hoping the feline-like race and insect race aren’t the only ones that can have long tails. I’d like my character to have a long bushy tail of some sort. Overall I can’t pick any one race just yet, partially due to how little we know about them. Also because I’m hoping there will be a decent amount of customization and certain skills/traits that are race specific that will help influence which we choose.

    in reply to: Hai! I'm Southpaw-seb :3 #4392

Southpaw is actually a term used for left-handed people, that and a boxing stance…

I’d assume the first. But I could be wrong.

Also welcome to Oort Online Southpaw-seb!

in reply to: Oort Online Unofficial Forum #4138

I’m a bit confused here… The forum you created looks great and all but, we have a forum right here, with which we are using to communicate and share ideas. Yes it’s a bit bland and could use some improvement, but that will come in time. I DO NOT mean to bash your work in any way, it actually looks like a nice forum. Having an additional forum just feels redundant.

I guess I’m that guy that’s questioning “why?” and I’m sorry for doing so; I just think one forum is all that is needed at this stage of the game. It keeps everyone and every discussion in one place, less running back and forth and referencing other forums. If it’s forum features people desire right now, then maybe we can suggest/ask the dev team. Plus the devs are active on this forum and I don’t know if they would join a whole new forum just to do what they can do here.

in reply to: Hi, Im Kerpie #4110

Hey there Kerpie, welcome to the community!

For the concept art you are looking at, the red creature on the left is the insect and the blue one on the right is the reptilian. The concept for the insects show them with slight digitigrade looking legs and a tail. The reptilians have been discussed a bit and people are wondering if they will also get tails.

As an artist myself, I look forward to seeing your work!

in reply to: Notice Boards #3905

I think this is a great idea. This seems perfect for the guild system and posting all matters including quests, recruitment, raid notices, party requests. Also like you said this sounds great for a trade notification board. I definitely feel it would make some aspects easier; if a player isn’t online and they want to trade an item, putting up a notice and attaching the item would be helpful.

I could see this sort of thing in larger towns or guild halls, areas many players would pass by. I know if I came to a new town I would love a notice board I can walk up to and read about certain news and events, see who is wanting what, and maybe get a description of what is located where in the town.

Color coordination sounds great too. Personally when I join a new server on Minecraft if I see a wall of hundreds of signs I either skim through a few or I turn the other way and figure stuff out myself. I think this is partially due to the basic and bland structure of Minecraft signs. If Oort included this colorful informative notice board you suggested, I know I would read and use every one I passed.

in reply to: Character and item customization #3522

I agree with character customization. I feel in rpg games I like to create someone unique even if I am the only one that knows how detailed he is. I’m not entirely sure how in depth they plan on going into character creation but I do feel a few options and customizations would be nice, just so we all don’t look the same.

For weapons, I kind of talked about my thoughts for adding onto weapons, but being able to find the basic versions as loot and modifiying them later is a nice idea. I also love the idea for reverse engineering a weapon to learn it’s recipe or attributes. Maybe after doing so you could also get the chance to receive some materials the weapon was made out of. This would add a nice element to crafting and would give people a reason to hang onto certain weapons.

And for my comment on vanity items… I’m oblivious. I guess the developers are already planning to have them. They mention it in the intro video which I have watched hundreds of times, but it only now registered in my mind.

in reply to: is Oort subscription based???? #3335

There is a one time fee to play the game; however, there will be an option to create and rent your own server later on.

in reply to: Writable Books #3244

I like the idea of books. I have tried a journal in other games but I feel for Oort I would use a book to write coordinates of things, if no map, and possibly notes on villages, where to buy certain items.

I also feel books would be great for guilds. Using them for rules/laws and allow all members to see who is an alliance and who is the enemy.

in reply to: Please make characters ambidextrous #3222

I have deleted the previous post as it may have been too heavy for some. I am adding this suggestion to another post with more character related suggestions and will keep it simple. Thank you for the reply.

Was actually thinking of suggesting this is someone hadn’t. Great to know more people think this would be useful. I’m all for aesthetics, so I think this would be nice.

    Thank you tzSimon!

in reply to: Low FPS, very laggy #2942

Thanks for the reply michaelb. Right now, I am able to play and that’s all I really care about at the moment. I fear my computer is to that inevitable point where it’s about to die, so I will just have to get a new one eventually. As long as I can enjoy the game and hopefully help with some input, I’m happy.

This is great! The sky and clouds make Oort seem like a real foreign world, love it.

in reply to: Low FPS, very laggy #2779

I think I helped reduce a little lag by cleaning out unused stuff on my laptop. Still getting low FPS but I can play using Firefox now. My usual FPS is 20 or below and after maybe 30 min of playing it gradually drops to below 10. That’s when I will have trouble getting anywhere, glitching back to a certain spot or dying.

    Here are my specs:

Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256 MB
    Software OS X 10.9.4 (13E28)

I was also going to ask about the change in status. I’d hate to be a bother and I understand you guys have much better things to be doing, so no rush. I’m patient; I hadn’t really noticed due to being engrossed in playing 😉
