When titans appear I sincerely hope they become climbable with grappling hooks. The game Dragon’s Dogma let’s you climb large enemies and cows and you can grab onto the bird things (harpies?) as they fly up. I really enjoyed that element where you had to actually deal with a whole monster and not just try to smack a hit box. I haven’t played Shadow of the Colossus, but I imagine that when I think of the titans.

Regarding dual wielding, are there going to be equip slots for weapons, so say I dual wield scythes because why not, and something attacks me while I’m building. Do I have to panic and scroll through all the items in my hot-bar in some weird way just to fight back or can I hit a button and poof combat mode?

For the generic weapon types that everyone has come to recognize, do I have to use tomes or wands as the only catalysts, or can I take my dagger of pow pow and shoot sparks at my foes?

Are some objects going to be able to rotate with interaction? This directional light makes me think of spotlights, and if I’m safe inside my walls and maybe I see something and I don’t know what it is, I don’t want to go investigate it only to end up being forced to fight something that could be a real threat when I can be smart about it and just scout it out and speculate from a distance. You know, at night when it’s hard to see and more dangerous things that can see, see me.

how about instruments? program a music scroll to play certain notes when you equip it with an instrument.

I swear I’ve seen this post and someone replied something about beast species and absolutely no dwarves and elves, because it’s too common. Which I agree with. As for the actual crafting, well it sounds more like smelting, I think it’s like adding another step to Minecrafts usual ‘stick ore into a furnace, craft ingot into something,’ so I don’t see it being a thing. As far as races go I want to pick any race I want and still basically be the top of my chosen field. Maybe the Goat people are superior in crafting weapons, but I want to be a lizard person. That would upset me that I can’t possibly be superior in that aspect without being the goat when I really want to be the lizard. Now obviously the devs are intending for each race to have unique traits to them like size, movement speed and gathering efficiency, but as far as the potential your character has for the role you choose, I want to have a chance, and not always be outclassed by my goat nemesis who is 20 towns over.

multi jumping sounds silly when you have a grappling hook. I shoot at ceilings to climb higher and aim at walls to cross gaps. Not saying its a terrible idea… it just doesn’t seem necessary.

Is crafting coming before/with beacons? I can see that being the case so people can’t beacon spam or necessarily be limited in their construction efforts by having a single beacon available.

Regarding beacons… this is certainly an issue because of how free you are to explore and you can easily claim territory using the beacon, plenty of certain types of people would make an annoying point of blocking off large areas from everyone else. Here’s an odd thought and maybe this will help make beacons seem more like a world friendly part of the story thing and less of a game mechanic meant to protect your stuff thing. Everyone gets a single beacon, more like a trinket bestowed upon you at your birth, a device meant to protect you in your time of need. Again some people like larger projects, a few of you will complain that you want more. It’s an MMO there will, hopefully, be tons of other players on at the same time. If a single individual has so much territory think of all the other ‘individuals’. The only other beacon that would be allowed at this point would be the guild beacon. The ancient power of unity has been granted, the guild leader would be the only one obtaining this extra beacon, and instead of just claiming a large area it would create a grid of sorts that links nearby beacons belonging to your guild members.

Guild Beacon so and so distance to Player beacon = Territory from point A to B, connected Player Beacon so and so distance to other Player Beacon = Territory from B to C and C to A as well

Maybe I’m thinking too much, or just can’t see something that others can, but regarding this issue I believe this solves it a bit. This is an important feature so please share your thoughts.

Here’s an idea that I hope everyone can agree to, instruments. Yes, music in your hands, I don’t want to build roller-coaster to listen to a song that took half a world to make. Obviously your other keys do things already and I don’t want to have people breaking things just to play musical notes, again I’m mentioning another game to provide an example and again it’s Mabinogi. In Mabi you can make score scrolls that you basically program with the music you want to play, the notes are the same no matter which instrument you choose to play with and other players can join a band with you for that lovely blend of sound, which I believe can help build that tight-knit campfire community if we can implement something similar in Oort.

I sincerely want players in Oort to be close to their guilds and their friends and feel welcome to join strangers in some fun. Something that Minecraft (I apologize, but that is my basis for games that have blocks) could never do was make me feel connected, it was a solo effort even with other people everywhere in the world. I know Oort is a very different MMO, but I believe (I can fly) that it has the potential to deliver.

Since this is the first forum I saw labeled “Suggestions” I’m going to post some of my ideas here.

Regarding races, I read a news thing about the survey where they asked the community what races we would like to see. One of the big ones was Cats, I love cats, however for the sake of being more unique (lots of games do tend to overlap on certain ideas) if cats do become a thing, they should be like rocky beings with cat like features rather than literally be cats. This is just an example of course, what I’m really saying is let the community recognize that the race they requested took form, but throw in a unique twist. After all, everyone’s likely to go for Dragons and Elves too and I think those have been overused.

Because these races are the playable races, another topic comes to mind and that is character customization. Is everyone going to look the same? Is everyone going to have purple skin if we pick a scaled race? Are we all unisex? I have no intention of advertising, but because I’m trying to help with the flow of ideas I’m going to bring up Mabinogi for a sec. This MMO in particular has a ton of customization, from what you look like to your height/age, weight, clothing (ridiculous how many clothes exist) the colors of your clothes (again ridiculous variety) and even the skills and weapons (too many). There are millions of people who play that game, but I have always felt unique while playing that game. Now this game, Oort Online, being similar to Minecraft, has tons of potential in the battle for being amazingly unique (Oort already beats Minecraft looks wise and we have grappling hooks and apparently epic battles in the future). I want to be That One Guy and not some dude over there. I play tons of games, and one thing I’ve recognized recently is I tend to become some kind of wizard ninja person if it’s possible, so please let me continue my odd tradition.

My fellow Gamers, and of course the Devs, please respond to these thoughts with more ideas, or a more solid interpretation of what you think I’m getting at, Gamers give your critique, Devs give me the yay or nay on what you think is going to happen.
