Thanks Dan. We’ll get through them all. I may not always be able to reply to all of the comments but I make sure I read them all.
We really appreciate the feedback, ideas and bug hunting!

RobParticipantWe’re working on some of the basic crafting infrastructure at the minute and I think with what we have planned we should be able to satisfy some of your concepts. One of the big things we want to put into the system is a bit of an ‘experimental’ feel with some more advanced crafting so that you can get some interesting effects if you mess with some strange materials in a recipe.
For example. You might put in the ingredients for an iron battleaxe but mix in some volcanic dust you’ve found. Perhaps that might add some strange properties to the axe.
Flaming axes with fire damage anyone….?

RobParticipantLOL. That’s what we like to see. Players being so creative with their suggestions and ideas that the forum thinks they’re spamming! 😉
WE LOVE GRAPPLING HOOKS!
I’ve copied the other suggestions into my now ever growing notebook.

RobParticipantThanks guys. Keep the furniture suggestions up. We want you to be able to personalize your homes and let you show them off to others. When you’re in an online game we think it’s important that you can distinguish your creations from other players.

RobParticipantAll nice ideas (well maybe not the spaceships just yet ;). Once we have the core features in there’s lots of things we could try for travel so thanks for the ideas.
Mounts and boats etc all sound like they would be pretty cool, as long as they don’t go too fast. The faster the transportation the more strain gets put on the world meshing. So, no racing cars! 😉
One thing that we really love is GRAPPLING HOOKS. So, you might see some local travel via hook and line.

RobParticipantAll of these suggestions shouldn’t be too tough. We’ve already got bigger, different trees with branches in some of our non-live test worlds. Putting flora and fauna in the oceans will probably be ok. But I’ll have to talk nicely to Luca the ‘King of World Generation’ 😉
Thanks guys!

RobParticipantHi Unkowncmbk. To start with we’re hosting the servers/worlds so that we can keep things a bit smaller and controlled while we test things out.
The intent with Oort Online has always been to allow the players to have their own servers/worlds. Initially we’re planning to still host them but allow players to rent them and give them certain controls within the Oort Online framework.
A much more long term complete mod system for servers/worlds would likely be further down the line. We’ve talked about ways we could allow for this and yet still maintain our connected world experience. However, there’s a lot of other stuff to build first.
But keep telling us what YOU want. If enough people want the same thing then we’ll talk about changing our priorities. You guys are our players, it’s your game.

RobParticipantHi Dan. I’ve sent an email off to the team and we’ll try to figure out what’s going on and advise you.
Sorry!

RobParticipantBeing based in the UK we are very familiar with the phenomenon of rain. 😉
No puddles yet or sliding down blocks, but if Luca our resident weather and physics genius sees this I’m sure he’ll make it work during his lunch hour. 😉
Have you been to ‘Luca’ world yet and seen the snow?

RobParticipantHi Benjyboi. Yeah, we’re not sure about a weight capacity system. I never find it terribly fun when I’m constantly working on ‘inventory management’ instead of having more fun in the game.
Skyrim (which I love) had an encumbrance system that springs to mind. I was like a kleptomaniac in that game. I HAD to steal EVERYTHING! Giant cast iron pots, bowls, food, baskets, if it wasn’t nailed down I would take it. Then I’d spend an age travelling at 0.0001 mph trying to get home with my worthless loot 😉
We’re still working on the bag design so plenty of room for changes.

RobParticipantHi Havok40k. Thanks for the positive support both monetarily and verbally! It’s really helped us over the last few days seeing all of the good feedback and community involvement out there.
We’d like you, the players to be able to support us in any way you want to. We’ve had a few requests to include upgrade options for higher tiers and stuff so far and we’re thinking about the best way to allow that.
We don’t want the game to be a ‘pay to win’ scheme either. But we DO want people to be able to help support the game as much as they want to!
Keep an eye on the website for updates and as soon as we’ve got new mechanisms for upgrading your package we’ll let you know.
Thanks!

RobParticipantWe totally want to allow the various races to play slightly differently in game. This may not be something that happens right away when the different characters are implemented though.
We like your specific race trait ideas though. Added to notebook! 🙂

RobParticipantHi Janis. Sorry for the issue your seeing. I’ve passed the information on to the engineers and they’re taking a look right now.
Stay tuned!

RobParticipantHi Janis. You’re right, some of the worlds may get ‘a bit messy’ after while. We have a few ways of dealing with this.
To start with we will be implementing a system of ‘Beacons’ that players can place to claim land of their own.
At a later date we also want to add some community multiplayer features such as Guilds to allow like minded players to get together, fight alongside, support and build their own player run settlements. The Beacon system will help these guild players claim tracts of land for their own use.
Currently we only have a few worlds up and running but we intend on having many more. So, there will always be ‘natural’ worlds available. We can also implement certain rules on some worlds if we desire. Certain worlds might be free from any building at all or we could only allow certain areas to be ‘developed’.
Lastly, we expect and hope that players will have the desire to rent their own worlds. This will put more control in your hands and let you have certain amounts of power over the rules and maintenance of your own world.
Thanks very much for supporting us Janis. We appreciate it.

RobParticipantThanks Alfa. We appreciate the feedback. We’ll definitely continue to consider all opinions and feedback and see when and how we can implement changes. We may not always make every change that every individual wants, but if enough people give the same feedback we will listen.
Keep it coming! 🙂
